Supply Chain Engineer


SHR Talent is partnering with a manufacturing client in Nashville, TN in its search for a Supply Chain Engineer. The Supply Chain Engineer will work closely with the Distribution Center Team, Logistics Team, Facilities Buyers and Planners, and the Demand Planning Team and will be responsible for reviewing and improving warehousing logistics, and the planning side of supply chain as well as the design and implementation of new warehouse requirements and ongoing efficiency improvements. As the Supply Chain Engineer, you will work with the Inbound Buyer and Planner Team to engage suppliers and determine the optimal transportation and order sequencing needed to balance freight inventory costs with the needs of the Warehouse Operations Team. Additionally, the Supply Chain Engineer will work heavily with the Logistics Team to create an inbound planning book for finished goods that assists in the design of reports that map actual expenditures to planned expenditures by lane.

An ideal candidate for the Supply Chain Engineer role is someone who enjoys working with data, is a problem solver, detail oriented, and highly organized. To be successful in this role, the Supply Chain Engineer should possess the ability to handle pressure well and lead through complex issues across physical and systemic platforms, be a clear communicator with the ability to navigate through data, the ability to equitably issue assignments across a matrixed environment, and a demonstrated ability to function within cross team collaboration. The Supply Chain Engineer should also possess warehouse implementation and project management skills, improvisational and problem-solving skills, and strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist the Demand Planning and overall Supply Chain organization in RDC rationalization and inventory planning requirements for finished goods planning by global region
• Execute warehouse and DC rationalization projects
• Oversee CAPEX spending, aligning spending to approved budget requirements
• Lead and assist in the selection and implementation of WMS and TMS system improvements, becoming the check point in balancing system processes with business practices and labor
• Assist in excess and obsolete product identification and management
• Collaborate with the Logistics Team to log issues and incorrect charges from logistics and shipping sources and provide data regarding errors
• Maintain list of prioritized projects and reports on status and completion and reprioritize, assuring the most urgent needs of the business are met


• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• Minimum 10 years of related warehouse or distribution design and improvement experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft D365, a plus
• CAPEX budget experience, a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, CAD Facility Layout, or related system, a plus
• Knowledge of global logistics lane mapping
• Experience with facility creation from design through execution and budget management
• Experience with freight calculation components and overall global, ocean, and air freight lanes
• Experience with WMS and TMS systems, and the facility integration and automation to these systems
• Demonstrated ability to generate source to destination flow maps, RDC rationalization, and heat maps
• Demonstrated experience in successfully leading warehouse creation and improvement efforts, completing logistics improvement projects and capturing results
