Sr. Property Accountant


SHR Talent is currently seeking a full-time Sr. Property Accountant on behalf of a client in Nashville. This opportunity offers a hybrid schedule of remote & onsite work. This role reports directly to the SVP of Accounting and will be responsible for all phases of general ledger portfolio accounting for the company’s two portfolios consisting of approximately 40 properties. The Sr. Property Accountant will work closely with the property accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities: • Equity and consolidation accounting for portfolios
• Review monthly property level distribution files prepared by third party accounting firm
• Prepare consolidated JV distribution files
• Provide accurate and timely financial information to other internal departments such as asset management as well as clients, lenders, consultants etc.
• Enter in operating budgets for JV entities
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to sub-ledgers and prepare monthly bank reconciliations at jv and holdings level
• Liaise between the accounting and asset management teams to provide financial analysis as part of the monthly financial reporting package
• Review property level financial packages
• Prepare quarterly consolidated modified accrual financials
• Prepare annual consolidated GAAP financials for applicable portfolios
• Fulfill document and reporting requirements for audits and tax


Qualifications: • 3+ years of professional accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
• CPA preferred
• Familiarity with modified accrual and GAAP accounting concepts
• Ability to use good judgment and discretion with sensitive and confidential issues, projects, and information
• Ability to apply analytical reasoning and problem solve
• Proven prioritization and organizational skills
• A team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Professional, timely, and work well within deadlines
• Experience interacting with senior-level management
• Self-directed and able to work independently as well as within a team
• Strong written ad verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working in a growing and evolving team environment with the ability to adapt to changing needs and processes Technical Requirements: • Immediate Excel and Word skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of GAPP accounting
• Experience in MRI or comparable software is a plus
• CPA is a plus but not required
