Purchasing & Estimating Coordinator

SHR Talent is currently seeking a full-time Purchasing & Estimating Coordinator on behalf of a client in Nashville. The successful candidate in this role will be capable in task management and process documentation, and will possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail. Experience in residential or commercial construction is preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Purchase products and services for company
• Be a “Cost Code Owner” to manage the relationships, pricing, and performance of subcontractor
• Report, investigate, and reduce variance
• Ensure Final Estimates for Projects are accurate and cost effective
• Ensure catalog pricing, quantities, and purchase orders are accurate
• Assess products, services, vendors, and offerings
• Develop and implement recommendations for products, cost savings, and value engineering solutions and optimization
• Negotiate pricing and sourcing details with vendors
• Conduct product and service quality appraisal
• Review scopes for accuracy and make changes based upon feedback
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors
• Create spreadsheets to analyze pricing and display key data on product/pricing offerings
• Present important data/information through concise and effective means
• Complete various administrative tasks as directed by the Purchasing and Estimating Manager
• Improve and oversee projects and processes needed to achieve company goals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree
• Experience in Residential or Commercial Construction
• Experience in managing vendor relationships
• Strong relationship-building skills
• Negotiation skills and experience
• Strong Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel experience
• Smartsheet experience is a plus
• Ability to read and understand Civil and Architectural drawings
• Critical thinker with strong problem-solving and research proficiencies
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to gather data and convert it into meaningful analysis
• Solid organizational skills and detail oriented
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines
